Textmode
A Mac text editor that stays fast on huge files.
Close an untitled window and its text is kept, not lost. Fold code, preview Markdown and compare two files, all in one native app.
Version 1.0, a 19 MB download. Free for 30 days with no account, on macOS 26 Tahoe or later.
What it does
In our tests, typing in a 100 MB file is as quick as a small one. Gigabyte files open and long lines stay editable.
Close an untitled window and Textmode keeps its text in Closed Drafts, ready to reopen from the File menu.
Fold any indented block, Markdown section or comment out of the way. Folds come back when you reopen the file.
Show a live Markdown preview beside the text, or compare two files and step through every change.
Built on CotEditor's open-source code, plus Textmode's speed work. No account, nothing sent anywhere: the license key is checked on your Mac.
Pricing
One purchase with every 1.x update included and no subscription. Pay in USDC, with nothing added at checkout.
Everything works during the trial, with no account. After it nothing is locked; Textmode reminds you at most once a day.
